As a nation surrounded by water, Denmark has an affinity with nature and is a leading advocate for achieving sustainability across all of society, including water, transport, energy generation, building efficiency and recycling. Around 41% of the country’s energy is generated by wind.
SOCIETY
Community, trust and equality are cornerstones of Denmark’s egalitarian society. There is a high level of trust across society, including extremely low to levels of historical corruption in the Danish government. It also considered to be one of the most tolerant countries and was the first to allow same sex partnerships.
NEW NORDIC CUISINE
The profile of Danish cuisine has risen dramatically in recent years and is now referred to as “New Nordic Cuisine”, whereby traditional ingredients and recipes are reimagined for today’s decerning diners. Copenhagen based Restaurant Noma has ranked No.1 in the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” competition for 5 consecutive years. In total, Danish restaurants have been awarded an incredible 35 Michelin Stars.
